Vitamin E is a yellow fluid, which resembles butter and is fat-soluble. Although this vitamin is fat-soluble, it does not dissolve in water. It’s also resistant to weak acids and can be damaged by ultraviolet light. Vitamin E is synthesized in the green part of plants and like other animals, the humans cannot produce vitamin E and we have to get it by eating foods and drinking vitamin supplements. You can get vitamin E from foods like eggs, meat, fish, corn, wheat and others like them.
There are several forms of vitamin E, but two of them are mostly used and those two are tocopherol and tocotrienol. There are seven popular sub forms of this vitamin and they are alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols and the alpha beta and gamma tocotrienols. The most active representative is alpha- tocopherol, which is contained is corn and wheat. Tocotrienols are mostly found in plant life and are not as active. Most researchers only take in mind the contained values of alpha-tocopherol because of the fact that vitamin activity is increased as you go from alpha to delta isomers and anti-acidic activity is increased in the reverse order. The main physiological activity of this type of vitamin E is that it has an anti acidic property. This means that it can block free radicals. Vitamin E is also a very effective anti oxidant. In the digestive system vitamin E gets in the bowels by the human fat. When it gets inside your organism this vitamin usually gets stored in the fat below the skin and it is dissolved by acids. Whatever the unwanted product of this vitamin is, it gets to the kidney and then leaves the body through urine.
Vitamin E has the ability to bond with free radicals, which the human organisms form after a heavy exercise and then disable these radicals. These free radicals usually would destroy the cellular membrane and can cause lots of serious diseases like arthrosclerosis, cancer, diabetes and arthritis. Vitamin E protects the cellular membranes of all tissues from acids and can increase their protection from many diseases and also increase potency in men. This vitamin also helps with muscle pain and inflammation and stimulates muscle growth. Vitamin E also has an effect on stabilizing the levels of blood sugar that can change the amount of insulin secretion. The recommended daily intake of this vitamin is different for everyone because it can depend of the physical activity of the patient and the type of vitamin E that he or she wants to take. Overdosing vitamin E can cause high blood pressure and be toxic so you should be careful not to take too much of it. Although many people try getting vitamin E from food, keeping the right food diet is not always as easy as it sounds and it’s better to try and get the vitamins that your body needs in another way than not to get them at all. There are several kinds of food supplements filled with the right vitamins for your body that you can easily find in every pharmacy. Especially for bodybuilders and athletes vitamin E is one of the vitamins that is required if you want to have a strong and beautiful body.
